On the Tacchi of Ogliastra
by Trenino Verde (Green Train) & Shuttle Bus from Arbatax to Gairo Taquisara
The Arbatax – Gairo Taquisara route and the Ogliastra piedmont, among cannonau vineyards, spectacular limestone cliffs that stand out among green woods and ghost towns. Unique and famous places, but always genuine. A complex day, which flows by lightly and offers many ideas and many beautiful memories. You will meet your dedicated Guide directly in front of the Trenino Verde stopped on the platform, you will cross the flat territories of Tortolì, ancient capital of the Marquisate of Quirra; after passing the Elini Station, a few more daring bridges and you will have reached Lanusei
Here we will leave the Trenino Verde, to find it at the terminus, waiting for us in the afternoon. To discover the most mountainous Ogliastra territory, still along the line, we will continue with the shuttle (private bus). We will go over the Tacchi, to reach the slopes of Gennargentu, where the longest river in Sardinia (Flumendosa) has its sources and, shortly after, is already dammed to form Lake Bau Muggeris. After the stop & go to admire it, we will soon return to the Tacchi, accessing the green valley of Taquisara, nestled between these spectacular limestone cliffs of upper Ogliastra. We will arrive there at 12:00, to leave by coach at 14:45, to spend some free time there, or to eat a characteristic tasting of typical local products (food & beverage) which precedes a short (25 ') trek (tourist level) and a visit to the spectacular Taquisara Cave. The new coach journey allows us to stop in front of Perd'e Liana, the most famous of the Tacchi d'Ogliastra, whose shape gave them all this name. By 16:00 we will be back at the Lanusei Railway Station, where the Trenino Verde has been waiting for us since the morning, to take us back to the starting point, retracing the same tracks as the morning, but with new panoramic views and perspectives. We will arrive in Tortolì at 17:10, in Arbatax at 17:30, with the sea gradually becoming more and more present at the bottom of the valleys.

- Option 2: mini trekking in the woods with a visit to Grotta Taquisara and return to the valley floor with a relaxing stop for typical tastings (culurgiones aorrostu, angudda e'cibudda, civargeddus prena) and a "Cuore di Taquisara" (alcoholic/non-alcoholic)
14:45 Departure by minibus towards Perda Liana, until reaching the Trenino Verde station again;

In case of the "Tasting, Excursion and visit to Grotta Taquisara" option, you will taste the authentic and nutritious "breads seasoned" of the Ogliastra culinary tradition (culurgiones aorrostu, civargeddus prenu, angudda and cipudda), accompanied by a cocktail (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) that celebrates the characteristic shape (Heart) of the stalactites that you will see inside Grotta Taquisara.
In case of the "Typical Lunch" option, you will have the opportunity to taste a menu consisting of (A) first course: culurgiones ogliastrini, (B) second course: sheep in Cannonau, (C) side dish: roast potatoes, (D) bread: carasau and typical; (E) drinks: Water.
You will have the possibility to ask for an alternative based on your needs/food choices and to adapt the menu to the needs of children.
