Trenino Verde
From Marghine to Planargia
by Trenino Verde (Green Train), from Macomer to Bosa
08:45, we meet with the Green Train and the Guide. Last whistle and we leave from the Macomer Station (09:00). The landscape is characterized by ancient lavas that turn from dark red to black. Dry stone walls that testify to the “chiudende” season. Large expanses are grazing. The numerous nuraghes (including the “Succoronis”) often emerge between the hills along the line. They too are black, like the dry stone walls, in contrast with the vegetation, which changes according to the season, from green to yellow. At 537 meters above sea level (the highest point of this route), we stop. We are at the Bara Station. The stop will allow you to visit the Cistercian Abbey of S. Maria di Corte (among the oldest in Europe). We set off again through the Planargia, in the territories of Sindia and Tinnura. The agricultural and pastoral tradition is ancient in these plateaus, sloping down to the Sardinian sea, lashed by the mistral wind, which shapes the vegetation, prostrating it towards the east. At the Tinnura station, we get off to visit the “Paese dell’Arte”. In the characteristic station, a platter of local products and a tasting of Malvasia wine awaits us, the most identifying food and wine element of this territory, produced by the vineyards that adorn the hills around us. As per tradition, the Malvasia will also be accompanied by fragrant biscuits. From here, the air changes, thickened by the salty humidity of the sea and the train journey continues until reaching Bosa, in short. Its small houses, perched for defense needs and colored by fishermen to recognize them from the sea. It stands on the hill, overlooking the Temo river, which borders it in the valley. Upstream, it is crowned by the Malaspina Castle, up to whose walls the vertical stairways rise, which cross the horizontal streets. In your free time in Bosa you can wander around the old neighborhoods, or stop to visit the Conce museum, on the riverside. Look out over the old bridge or go up the Temo river by boat (optional and with an additional cost), have lunch with fresh fish or simply a picnic. At 5:30 pm, you will set off again towards Macomer in comfortable buses, certainly satisfied by such a variety of places, flavors, landscapes, sensations.

08:45 Meeting of participants with the guides at the Macomer Station.

Departure aboard the green train, along the plateau entering territories marked by the ancient pastoral tradition and by splendid examples of cork oaks. The train will stop near the ancient Cistercian abbey of S.
