From Marghine to Planargia
by Trenino Verde (Green Train), from Macomer to Bosa
At 9:00 am,
we meet with the Green Train and the Guide. Last whistle, a few puffs and we
leave from Macomer Station (09.15). The landscape is characterized by ancient
lavas that turn from dark red into black. Dry stone walls that bear witness to
the "closing" season. Large expanses are grazed. The numerous nuraghi
(including the “Succoronis”) often emerge from the hills along the line. They
too are black, like the dry stone walls, in contrast with the vegetation, which
changes according to the season, becoming green to yellow. At 537 meters above
sea level (the highest point of this route), we stop. We are at Bara Station.
The stop will allow you to visit the Cistercian Abbey of S.Maria di Corte
(among the oldest in Europe). Breakfast with coffee and local desserts,
immediately after the guided tour of the monastic complex, but at the second
whistle, everyone in the carriage ! We set off again through Planargia, in the
territories of Sindia and Tinnura. The agricultural-pastoral tradition is
ancient in these plateaus, sloping down to the Sardinian sea, lashed by the
mistral wind, which shapes the vegetation, prostrating it towards the east. At
the Tinnura station, you get off to visit the "Country of Art". The
whistle blows again, it's time to leave
, but a few more kilometers of railway line and here we are in Tresnuraghes. In
the characteristic Stazione, a tasting of Malvasia wine awaits us. The one
produced by the vineyards that adorn the hills around us. The most
identifying wine of this area. As per
tradition, it is accompanied by fragrant biscuits. From here, the air changes,
thickened by the salty humidity of the sea. We get on the bus to quickly reach
Bosa. Its small houses, perched on for defence purposes and coloured by
fishermen to recognize them from the sea. It stands on the hill, overlooking
the Temo river, which borders it downstream. Upstream, it is crowned by the
Malaspina Castle, up to whose walls the vertical stairways go up, which cross
the horizontal streets. You can wander around the old neighbourhoods, or stop
to visit the Conce museum, along the river. Look out over the old bridge or go
up the Temo river by boat (optional and with additional cost), have lunch with
fresh fish or simply a packed lunch. The arrival in Macomer is scheduled for
5.30pm, certainly satisfied by such a variety of places, flavours, landscapes
and sensations.
At 9:15 am meeting of participants with the operators of the Cooperative Society Esedra at the station in Macomer.
At 09:30 departure aboard the historic carriage Bauchiero (1913), along the basalt treading in territories marked by ancient pastoral tradition, to the ruins of the ancient Cistercian abbey of S. Maria di Corte, dated 1147 and considered among the oldest in Europe.
After the guided tour of the monastery complex, we resume our journey aboard the Green Train. Our journey continues to the station of Tinnura for the visit to the Country of Art and stop for the tasting of the cutting board made from local products, and the famous malvasia wine accompanied by fragrant Sardinian biscuits.
At the end, the train continues its journey through a succession of landscapes dominated by the famous vineyards of Malvasia slowly climbing the evocative curves of the hills surrounding Bosa. After having skirted the beach and the gulf of Bosa you reach the terminus, the station of Bosa Marina.
