Liscia Valley and Tempio Pausania
in Trenino Verde (Green Train) & Boat from Palau to Lago Liscia
the Trenino Verde leaves at 09:00 from the station in the village of Palau. Your Tourist Guide will be waiting for you to tell you about Gallura, the Sardinians and the Corsicans who moved there. The sea is behind you and between a daring railway bridge and a few tunnels, you can see the granite mamelons, first on pink, then on gray. From the windows you can see the cussorgie and the stazzi, the leitmotif of the agro-pastoral history of these places. Once at the Arzachena station, a short stop will allow other passengers to board the train. Crossing the “CodduVecchiu-LaPrisgiona” archaeological area, you will meet the stations of Caldosa, Capichera and Oddastru, before reaching that of S.Antonio di Gallura and finally at the stop on Lake Liscia. Once off the train, the romantic boat will be waiting for us, with which we can move on Lake Liscia. We will talk about the people of Liscesi (as the inhabitants of all the towns that overlook the valleys overlooking this river called themselves), with their characteristics and the birth of the Costa Smeralda, with its strong contrasts and the social revolutions that followed. But above all, we will admire the beautiful landscape context. Disembarked on the side opposite the train stop, we will walk a stretch (+/- 600m) to reach the famous millenary olive trees of Luras (S'Ozzastru de Santu Baltolu). Here we expect a visit and photographic shots of these giants, but also a rich tasting of typical local products and the moment of well-deserved relaxation, with the breathtaking view of Lake Liscia. At 05:00 pm we will begin our descent towards the shores of the lake and from there to the pick nic area near the train stop. Back on board, towards Palau, we will talk about the legendary “Muto di Gallura” and other bandits of the past. After Arzachena the sea is close, you can feel it, but you can't see it yet. We need to proceed north for a few kilometers, then, after a big curve, the extraordinary view of the sea and the La Maddalena Archipelago opens up in front of us. At 07.15 pm, the adventure ended, arrived at the Palau station, happy and full of experiences to tell.
